CLARK CUSTOM RUGER 10 22

Clark Custom Ruger 10 22 – This project is a few years old. It really happened on a whim as I browsed the Brownells website for a Ruger 10/22 project for this websites predecessor site Tactical22.net. At the time Brownells was offering several variations of  CLARK CUSTOM GUNS RUGER 10 22 BARRELED ACTIONS. I had to have one. After a few emails with Clark Custom I sealed the deal and from the options below I selected the “Target – Plain, Stainless .920″ Diameter 21.5″ long”

  • Target – Plain, Blue, .920″ Diameter 21.5″ long
  • Target – Plain, Stainless .920″ Diameter 21.5″ long
  • Target – Fluted, Blue, .920″ Diameter 21.5″ long
  • Target – Fluted, Stainless, .920″ Diameter 21.5″ long
  • Hunter – Fluted, Blue .920″ Diameter 16″ long

All CLARK CUSTOM GUNS RUGER 10 22 BARRELED ACTIONS models feature:

  • Heavy Contour Lothar Walther Barrel
  • Competition Trigger Job
  • Trigger Stop
  • Weaver TO9 Scope Base
  • 1/2″ Group Size @ 50 Yard Guarantee

My selections for this project are listed below.

CLARK CUSTOM Ruger 10 22 BARRELED ACTION

CLARK CUSTOM RUGER 10 22 BARRELED ACTION

The only Ruger 10/22 part on the CLARK CUSTOM GUNS RUGER 10/22 BARRELED ACTIONS is the 10/22 Receiver. I read online that Clark Custom bought a supply of the receivers before Ruger cheapened them up. Lothar Walther makes the finest .22 barrels PERIOD. That was one of the biggest selling points of this 10/22 BARRELED ACTION. Typically when you want a Lothar Walther .22 barrel you dig deep and you wait. The barrel also helps justify the near $800 price tag of the BARRELED ACTION. If there is one weakness of the product it’s the trigger. The trigger is good just not as good as it could be especially given the price tag. That’s an easy fix anyways and a topic for another discussion.

Bell Carlson BR50 "Odyssey" Ruger 10 22 Stock Rimfire World

Bell Carlson BR50 “Odyssey” Ruger 10 22 Stock

Bell Carlson BR50 “Odyssey” Ruger 10 22 Stock

The Bell Carlson BR50 “Odyssey” Ruger 10/22 Stock is a clone of a much more expensive benchrest “BR” stock. It gets some heat online because it’s expensive and you need to do a little fitting of an action. I did not find the fitting to be difficult. I little bit of work with a dremel and wood chisel and I was good to go. I like the way it looks and feels. No regrets.

Greatly improves accuracy by tuning stock fit for shooter comfort. Vertical grip and high comb place the eye in the proper position for correct scope alignment and maximum eye relief. 2-Way Butt is fully adjustable for length of pull and height at comb; Kevlar/Graphite, composite construction is stable in all climate conditions. Molded checkering on the grip and forearm gives a sure grasp. Textured surface and flat bottom, tapered forearm enhance benchrest stability, help prevent shifting. Includes rubber recoil pad, aluminum, forearm accessory rail; accepts heavy barrel contours up to .920″ diameter.

SPECS: Fiberglass with Kevlar and graphite, black, textured finish. 27-½” (70cm) long. Lop Adjustment – 12-¼” (31.7cm) to 13-7/8″ (35cm). 1″ (2.5cm) drop at comb, + 1-½” (3.8cm) comb adjustment. 3 lbs. 5 oz. (1.5 kg) weight.

Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9×40 Black Matte Riflescope BDC 150

Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9×40 Black Matte Riflescope BDC 150

The short of it is I like Nikon scopes. They offer some of the highest value and lowest cost in riflescopes available today. Sure the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9×40 Black Matte Riflescope BDC 150 doesn’t have fancy exposed turrets that are functional and tacticool but who cares. It’s a .22 bench gun. At the time of writing this the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9×40 Black Matte Riflescope BDC 150 has been replaced by (February 2016) Nikon with the Nikon PROSTAFF RIMFIRE II 3-9×40 BDC 150

Ruger 10 22 Harris Bipod

Ruger 10 22 Harris Bipod

Ruger 10 22  Harris Bipod SBR

Many shooter purchase Chinese knockoffs of the Harris Bipod. I refuse to. I selected the Harris Bipod SBR 6″-‘9″. The mounting system on the BR-50 stock is a T-slot mounting system. There are two standards of this system and Harris makes an adapter for each. There’s an American Mount #6A and a European Mount #6. The Odyssey stock utilizes the European style 3/8″ #6.

Ruger BX-25 10 22 Magazine

Ruger BX-25 10 22 Magazine

Ruger BX-25 10 22 Magazine

Ruger really nailed it with the Ruger BX-25 10 22 Magazine design.

  • Presents cartridges at a 30º angle, perfect for the 10/22 rifle
  • Constant-force stainless steel spring
  • Self-lubricating anti-tilt follower

This genuine Ruger 25-round 10/22® magazine is enhanced with high-performance features. Its stainless steel feed lips present cartridges into the action at a 30º angle – precisely the angle the legendary 10/22 semiautomatic rifle prefers. For extra consistency, it has a constant-force stainless steel spring and a self-lubricating anti-tilt follower. Two-screw disassembly allows for easy cleaning.

Warne Maxima QD Scope Rings

Warne Maxima QD Scope Rings

Warne Maxima QD Scope Rings 201L 1 Inch

The The Warne Maxima QD Scope Rings are my “Go To” scope rings.  I find it difficult to utilize any other scope rings. I chose the medium height model 201L for the Clark Custom Ruger 10 22 project.

The Warne Maxima QD Scope Rings 201L 1 inch Quick Detach Medium Rings sport the unique Warne indexable lever system which allows the user to remove the optics from the rifle then reattach it without the loss of zero, as well as allowing the location of the lever to be indexed once the rings are affixed to the bases. After the levers are tightened, simply pull out on the lever, turn it to the desired location then let it snap into place.
When used on the all steel Warne Maxima Bases, we guarantee return to zero accuracy when removing and reattaching the optic. Also unique to the industry, the Maxima QD Rings have a square stainless steel recoil control key. This ensures a positive recoil engagement surface across the entire face of the recoil slot in the base. The recoil control key guarantees that the rings will not shift or move under fierce recoil and also protects against peening or swaging when mounted on aluminum bases.
The finished rings are assembled with four quality Torx style T-15 socket cap screws for strength and durability.

  • Return to Zero Guaranteed, quickly detach and reattach the Maxima QD rings with no loss of zero.
  • Square recoil control key for positive engagement of ring to base.
  • Indexable lever allows placement of the levers in any position desired.
  • Rings securely mount around scope using 4 Torx style T-15 socket cap screws, 25 in/lb. of torque recommended.
